About Maia

From early childhood Maia had an almost compulsive need to doodle. Though she was a studious child, her school notebooks overflowed with sketches, often to the dismay of her teachers who did not quite understand that drawing, in fact, helped her focus.

As she grew, her need to create only intensified. Bills, receipts, random scraps of paper, letters to family were all awash with art. When paper or canvas wasn’t at hand, she would paint on glass decorating various bottles, vases, serving plates with elaborate ornamental patterns. The extent of her teenage rebellion was painting a massive mural on the wall of the bedroom she shared with her sister.

Maia’ artistic expression eventually took a backseat to a corporate career. However, the birth of her second daughter brought forth an overwhelming pull back towards her creative roots. Maia heeded this calling and decided to pursue her artistry fulltime.

Thus, Maia the artist was re-born.
